At voguing ballrooms, the “executive realness” category is awarded to those who can rock a 9-to-5 suit. Unlike the more flamboyant categories, such as “European runway,” the key to winning the executive-chic trophy lies in adhering to a strict professional aesthetic. The only flourishes allowed are good tailoring and expensive-looking fabric. In other words, you let the fit do all the talking, which is exactly what Jessica Chastain has just done.
Hitting the street in New York City today, the actress suited up in a three-piece design by Ralph Lauren. Her blazer, vest, and trousers featured a striking blue pinstripe print, giving a subtle nod to the Wall Street bankers you see wheeling and dealing across the city. She gave it a more feminine twist, though; on her arm, she carried a cherry red handbag, the label’s RL50 style (talk about “securing the bag”) and further accessorized with white pointy pumps by Sergio Rossi and oversize sunglasses. (Full-on Americana colors.) And if this were a voguing competition? Let’s just say the look would definitely snatch the grand prize.
